Driving is one of the most unpleasant ways to travel
First of all, it’s dangerous af. You have to pay very close attention and can’t really look away. Even if you do your part, there’s no assurance that others on the road will do the same, so you gotta be extra defensive. The most you can multi task is listening to music or a podcast. It’s basically wasted time. On a plane or a train, I can just zone out and read manga or even just play video games On top of that, chances are that if you’re driving anywhere worth going, there’s going to be traffic and it’s going to be a pain to find parking when you get there. You will probably have to park far away if you don’t wanna pay, and then you have to walk all the way back to your car And roads are just so fucking ugly. Walking or biking in a city is very pleasant comparatively to being on a gigantic multi lane highway full of billboards. Some trains are unbelievably scenic And I just hate the responsibilities associated with driving. Can’t drive too fast because you might get pulled over, and I

Keep Cancelling Travel to US
Just bailed on a trip to Miami and will be visiting Vancouver. I’m done with the US. Then watching the Canada vs USA hockey game and they are promoting travel there big time. Why? Cause they are noticing the impact. I also have friends who work for travel companies and US travel is way down. Keep on boycotting. They don’t deserve our dollars

Travel is frustrating, angering, expensive, and not worth it.
There seems to be a fetish around travel with people these days, like it is the greatest thing in the world. When, in reality, it mostly sucks. Travel is just something suburban white kids / pathetic "influencers" do to flex. And a way for otherwise boring individuals to feel they are special. People act like travelling somewhere for two weeks makes them appreciative of other cultures and different people. That is straight up laughable. Eating a burrito in Mexico does NOT make you Hispanic anymore than drinking some wine in France wine makes you culturally French. Shitting in the alps doesn't make you Swiss. Getting head inside Big Ben as the clock strikes 12 doesn't make you British. What travel is really like: Pack up all your stuff, but probably forget things you need. Go to a transportation hub like an airport where you are elbow to elbow with other people rushing around to get invasively probed by the TSA. Board a plane where you are crammed in a really small space with the humani

Traveling for work is not a job perk
I used to think it was. I’m still pretty early on my career with less than 9 years in the workforce after college, and traveling for work is a pain. We’re only 7 months into the year and I’ve already been to NYC twice, LA, San Fran, Tampa, Houston, Portland, and Philly. It’s exhausting. From packing, to getting to an airport/train station, to the actual trip, hotels, poor diets, long days/nights. It all sucks. I will say the credit card points are nice.

I dislike traveling in the US. I can see why many Americans don't like travel now.
I've lived abroad for the last nine years since leaving university, but recently decided to come back to the US for the winter season. As I haven't been back in years, I thought it would be a good chance to do some travel too. That was when I realized how awful it is to solo travel to the US, and really understood why the US has less of a travel culture than other countries. No hostels in most cities. You're stuck paying money for airbnbs or hotels that jack up the price of your trip. In addition, a key social outlet is now gone, so loneliness is much more likely to strike. Awful public transit between and within cities. I've either got to go on a long road trip and spend on gas money, or I've got to fly somewhere and then rent a car. The car rental and gas costs once again jack up the price of your trip. You can't rent a car if you're under 25 in many places too. Expenses. In addition to the cost of a hotel or airbnb, plus car costs, eating out in the US is getting ridiculously expens

How do ya'll afford travel so often?
My social media feed is full of friends traveling to Europe or Asia or some international place. These people are mid 20s to 30s, not managers or directors. Some literally just graduated college and have no job. They shop at high-send stores, eat at expensive restaurants. Do people just not save these days or work? With a decent job I can only afford one or two international trips a year. These folks are going almost every month. What is this secret?

What jobs offer the most travel? (international preferably)
Title says it all, after some thinking about what I want from my early career, I started thinking I really regret not travelling more at uni and right after hence I am here asking, what jobs in professional/financial services as a whole offer the most, preferably international travel to see some of the world while making a buck for it. Note that I am not "addicted to travel" or anything and don't need to literally be on the road 24/7, I just want to see the world as much as I can while maintaining my career in financial services. I appreciate both stability and exploration. Hence travelling merchant is not really the aim lol. Another note is that personally I am early in on in my career (under one year experience total after uni) with a business degree from a "alright" uni in the UK

Travel while you’re young
I don’t understand why older people advise this/think it’s so easy to do. So you’re telling me while I’m paying rent, car, etc to go backpacking for 3 months? It does sound fun and like it would be amazing to have the priveladge to do something like that but just because I don’t have a family to take care of doesn’t mean I can drop all of my monthly expensies and rely on savings to travel.
