Too old to get into finance?
Does anyone have experience switching careers into finance a little later in life (as opposed to right out of college). I’m 33 and really love the industry. Ive been investing on my own since my early twenties, but as my family Is growing, I want to switch to a more profitable career, especially Something I love and am interested in. I would love to hear some experiences if anyone else has done this. Thanks so much!

Grant or finiancial assistance for Ash tree removal Minnesota?
Hey there! My 72 year old father has two larger ash trees in his backyard he really needs to get removed. One is completely dead, no leaves, maybe 2 stories tall. The other is slowly losing leaves on its outer most branches, and is about as tall but fuller. Dad was told that tree is also beyond treatment at this point and should come down. One place quoted him nearly $4000 for removal of both trees, not including stumps. I know the MN DNR has some resources on their website, but their map doesn't include the town we are in. Our city website doesn't seem to mention any helpful programs. Wondering if anyone knows of a grant to help seniors upkeep their yards/homes or similar he could tap into?

What do you think about financial takeover?
Gimme your opinions, is using the financial takover cheating? Do you think is not? Or do you think adding a small amount of money is ok but some people abuse?

how much should i expect regarding cost if im trying to major in cello?
If I were to get accepted into a conservatory, aside from the tuition fee for the conservatory, what else should I expect to spend money on? Do students take lessons outside of their conservatory courses? Should I purchase a more expensive instrument to help myself? What am I forgetting to ask? Sorry these are all a rambling of questions I'm worried about going into college without knowing anything about my potential future finiancial status

31M and 32F hoping to retire in 20 years. Are we on track??
Married for 6 years (7 in May). Living in PNW. No kids, and we won't be having any in the future. My income: $83,500 + $5k-$10k annual bonus Spouse income: $52,900 My Retirement: $49k Traditional IRA $20k Roth IRA $51k Pre-Tax 401k ($32k vested - year 3 of 6 year elevator vesting schedule) $14k Family HSA Spouse Retirement: $53k Traditional IRA Pension (!!! She's about to start a new job with a Pension, we're very excited) General: $6k taxable brokerage $13k HYSA $211k home equity ($533k value, $321k mortgage - 3.125% 26 years remaining) We're hoping to retire in the 50-55 year range. I contribute 10% of paycheck to 401k (7.5% match), and then an additional 10% net pay goes into a savings account that I move into the HYSA every 1-2 months. We're still figuring out how my spouse's pension will work. We both max our IRAs, as well as the Family HSA. Our monthly expenses are around $5k-$6k. I only started tracking it since approx October, so I hope that the additional visibility will help

Morality of taking advantage of low income programs once FIRED
'd like to see some opinions/discussion on the morality of using low income programs such as SNAP (food stamps). A number of these programs never ask how much money you have, just what your current income is. Therefore, once FIRED a lot of us qualify for such things. I'm talking about being 100% honest about every question while applying so there is no fraud involved. How do you feel about somebody with a net worth in the millions using these programs?
